29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about November 21, 2011 and at times prior, employees were exposed to hazards created by ingoing nip points, burns and rotating parts on the #7 stand sizing mill as follows: 1. Guarding was not provided around the entry point to the #7 stand sizing mill where shells enter the machine and employees were exposing to pinch/nip points in this area where they could be pinched between the hot moving shell and the mill. 2. Guarding was not provided over rotating parts on the #7 stand sizing mill which includes the ends of the rollers (cross shaped devices). Guarding was also not provided for rotating parts for a portion of the roll line in this area.
