The crane was located in the mechanic's shop at the Medford District Office.

29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed part(s) of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform were not protected by stationary casing(s) enclosing shafting completely or by trough(s) enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting: (a) Employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from the unguarded portions of the power driven shaft on pump HWP-1, located in the boiler room at the Medford District Office. This item was corrected at the time of the inspection. (b) Employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from the unguarded portions of the power driven shaft on pump HWP-2, located in the boiler room at the Medford District Office. This item was corrected at the time of the inspection. (c) Employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from the unguarded portions of the power driven shaft on the metallic colored pump located in the boiler room at the Medford District Office. This item was corrected at the time of the inspection. (d) Employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from the unguarded portions of the power driven shaft on the portable "haymaker", that was located outside of the warehouse at the NW corner of the Medford District Office compound at the time of the inspection. This item was corrected at the time of the inspection. (e) Employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from the unguarded portions of the power driven shaft on the portable "gold saver" mining equipment. The equipment was located outside of the warehouse at the NW corner of the Medford District Office compound at the time of the inspection. Note: Abatement certification and supporting documentation are required for this item. The employer was cited for a violation of the same standard and/or same hazard at the Salem District Office on 3/27/2008, Inspection #305941783, date 4/21/2008 of Final Order/settlement, and means of abatement.
