29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees were not protected by protective helmets while working in areas where there was a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns. On or about March 22, 2012 an employee was throwing metal stud braces up to another employee without a hard hat exposing the employee to a struck-by hazard. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c)

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On or about March 22, 2012 employees were working setting trusses without fall protection exposing the employees to a fall hazard of 11.6 to 22.2 feet. Hemphill Construction, Co. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501 (b)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 312592850, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 04/28/09, with respect to a workplace located at 8021 151st Street, Orland Park, IL 60463 . Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d)
