29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4) Work rest(s) on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one eighth inch: 1) Bay 1, the Dayton pedestal grinder #862 (3450 rpm) used approximately a couple times/week had the work rest adjusted to the periphery of the abrasive wheel on the left side with an opening which measured approximately 1 inch. The work rest was adjusted to the periphery of the abrasive wheel on the right side with an opening which measured approximately 7/8 inch. 2) Bay 4, the Dayton 8" bench grinder used for stone grinding daily had the work rest adjusted to the periphery of the abrasive wheel on the right side with an opening which measured approximately 1 inch.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9) A guard for abrasive wheel machine(s) where the operator stands in front of the machine was not constructed so that the peripheral protecting member could be adjusted to the constantly decreasing diameter of the wheel. The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: 1) Bay 1, the Dayton pedestal grinder #862 (3450 rpm) used approximately a couple times/week did not have a tongue guard on either the left or right side of the machine and had an opening which measured approximately 1 1/4 inches on the right side and an opening which measured approximately 1 inch on the left side. 2) Bay 4, the Dayton 8" bench grinder used for stone grinding daily lacked a tongue guard on the right side of the machine and had an opening which measured approximately 1 inch.
