29 CFR 1910.132(c):     Personal protective equipment was not of safe design and construction for the work to be performed:      a.)  On or before 5/15/2012, the transfer molding press operator handled BMC Molding compound containing styrene while feeding the press pot.  This operator was using yellow utility gloves which are not chemically resistant  to prevent direct contact with the styrene component while handling the molding compound.                                            Abatement Certification is required.

29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE):      a.)  On or before 5/15/2012, the transfer molding press operator handled BMC Molding compound containing styrene while feeding the press pot.  A hazard assessment for the PPE necessary to protect this employee from potential exposure to styrene had not been completed for this process.                                            Abatement Certification is required.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):     One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:        a.)  On or before 5/15/2012, the transfer molding press discharged plastic chips and debris while ejecting parts under pressure.   The debris would fly out of  the plate area around the machine with no protection for adjacent employees.                                         Abatement Certification is required.

On or before 5/15/2012, the spray booth located in the varnish room had cardboard boxes stored near the outside wall of the spray booth.
