29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): "Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) Employees conducting roofing activities on roof levels with a 4:12 and 5:12 pitch were not protected from falling to the lower level. This exposed employees to fall hazards of 8.6 feet and 18.2 feet.
