29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. On or about May 28, 2012, at the above addressed jobsite, employees performing carpentry operations from the roof were exposed to falls, of approximately twenty (20') feet, created by the presence of unprotected sides. THE FRANCISCO SANDOVAL DBA FRANCISCO SANDOVAL., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 29 CFR 1926.501(B)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 418125, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 2 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON MAY 22, 2012, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 8141 SOUTH CICERO AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60652.
