29 CFR 1926.405(g)(1)(iii)(C): Unless necessary for a use permitted in paragraph (g)(1)(i) of this section, flexible cords and cables shall not be used: where run through doorways, windows, or similar openings, except as permitted in paragraph (a)(2)(ii)(1) of this section. On or about 05/23/2012, the employer did not ensure that extension cords were protected from rough edges when run through unfinished window openings, which can cause damage to the outer insulation of the cord and potentially the internal conductors. An extension cord was observed running through a window opening on the second floor of the structure. The extension cord was attached to a temporary power panel located at ground level, approx 25 ft below.
