Exit doors in the ice storage room and compressor room are labeled with signs, but are not lighted in case of power outage. The employees work in the areas on a daily basis. This exposed the employees to injuries from potential fire hazards. The violation was observed on or about June 8, 2012. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) 24483 Sussex Highway, Seaford, DE - Bulk Ice Storage Room - Adequate guarding of the auger channel was not provided. Employees work in the area on a daily basis. This exposed the employees to amputation and crushing hazards from accidental contact with the unguarded rotating auger channel. On 05/30/2012, an employee slipped into to the channel and sustained an amputation to his right leg. The violation was observed on or about June 8, 2012. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

The 2' by 4' enclosure casing was removed and not covering the shafting and other moving parts. This exposes them to potential injuries, crushing and entanglement hazards. The violation was observed on or about June 8, 2012. * ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) 24483 Sussex Highway, Seaford, DE - In the forklift (PIT) charging area and engine room - adequate emergency eyewash station was not available for employees working in the area. The employees work in the area on a daily basis. The forklift area had a HP Uni-Gard emergency eyewash station with an expired (5/2010) saline bottle. The engine room had a North emergency eyewash station with expired (09/2010) saline bottles. This exposed the employees to injuries from the corrosives of the batteries, cleansers, degreasers, and sanitizers. The violation was observed on or about June 8, 2012.
