29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): "Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a) On the roof of a commercial building, on June 27, 2012, the employer did not ensure the use of a personal fall arrest system for employees working at a height greater than 11 feet and 8 inches, from the ground level, on a roof with a 6:12 pitch, exposing the employees to the hazards associated with broken bones, sprains, bruises, and lacerations. ABATEMENT CERTIIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED
