29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):  Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc:    a.  On or about July 10, 2012, in the tool room, the DoALL horizontal bandsaw did not have a guard on the unused portion of the saw blade, exposing the employees to an amputation hazard.    b.  On or about July 10, 2012, in the tool room, the Prometric vertical bandsaw did not have a guard on the unused portion of the saw blade, exposing the employees to an amputation hazard.    c.  On or about July 10, 2012, in the tool room, the Bridgeport milling machine did not have a chip guard on it, exposing the employees to a struck by hazard.    d.  On or about July 10, 2012, in the tool room, the Jet lathe did not have a chuck guard on it, exposing the employees to struck by and caught in hazards.    e. On or about July 10, 2012, in the tool room, the Azuma radial drilling and boring machine did not have a chip guard on it, exposing the employees to a struck by hazard.
