On or about 7/20/12 - Engine Plant, a program had not been developed to inform employees exposed to formaldehyde during sand molding of the hazards. b. On or about 7/20/12 - Engine Plant, a program had not been developed to inform employees exposed to formaldehyde during low pressure casting of the hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1048(d)(2)(i): A representative sampling strategy was not developed and sufficient formaldehyde exposures within each job classification for each work shift were not measured to correctly characterize and not underestimate the exposure of any employee within each exposure group: a. On or about 7/20/12 - Engine plant, a review of the employer's last sampling results indicated that a determination of 8 hour time-weighted average (TWA) exposure and short term exposure limit(STEL) exposure was not made for casting machine operators. b. On or about 7/20/12 - Engine plant, a review of the employer's last sampling results indicated that a sufficient number of STEL exposure samples had not been collected in the sand mold area where employees handle two types of resin coated sand parts. STEL exposure samples had not been collected for the Sand mold lead during robot maintenance.
