29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use [ANSIZ358.1-2004]: On or about 08/01/12, at Sugar Bay Resort & Spa, St. Thomas, VI. An emergency eye wash station was not provided in the immediate area when employees used and/or handled corrosive products as follows: a. At the cooling tower area. Employees used and/or handled products such as Sta Clear muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride) during water pH maintenance operations. b. At the pool pumps area. Employees used and/or handled products such as muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride), Nu-Clo tabs (Trichloroisocyanuric acid) and More-Clor 65 granular (calcium hypochlorite) during pool maintenance operations. c. At the Mangrove restaurant kitchen area. Employees used and/or handled products such as Pure Bright bleach (sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide) during floor cleaning operations. NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

The employer did not develop a written hazard communication program to ensure having material safety data sheets when using and/or handling products as follows: a. At the cooling tower area. Employees used and/or handled products such as Sta Clear muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride) during water pH maintenance operations. b. At the pool pumps area. Employees used and/or handled products such as muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride), Nu-Clo tabs (Trichloroisocyanuric acid) and More-Clor 65 granular (calcium hypochlorite) during pool maintenance operations. c.
