29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:  a)  On September 06, 2012, at a jobsite located at the Union Station, Kansas City, MO., an employee was exposed to serious fall injuries, in that he was engaged in painting activities from unprotected sides and edges by not using an personal fall protection or fall protection systems. The employee was exposed to a 15 feet - 3 inch fall to the concrete surface below.         Abatement certification for this violation is not required.

29 CFR 1926.503(c)(3): Inadequacies in an affected employee's knowledge or use of fall protection systems or equipment indicated that the employee had not retained the requisite understanding or skill.    a)  On September 06, 2012, at a jobsite located at the Union Station, Kansas City, MO., an employee was exposed to serious fall injuries, in that an employee demonstrated inadequacies in his lack of knowledge and use of required fall protection when exposed fall hazards during painting activities. The employee was exposed to a 15 feet - 3 inch fall to the concrete surface below.         Abatement certification for this violation is not required.
