29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iii)(A)(2)(i): During use, containers for contaminated sharps were not easily accessible to personnel or located as close as was feasible to the immediate area where sharps were used or could be reasonably anticipated to be found:    GJT Investors LLC, dba Aspen Ridge Alzheimers Special Care Center, at 622 28 1/4 Road, Grand Junction, CO:  On and preceding 12/11/12, GJT Investors LLC did not ensure that during use, containers for contaminated sharps were easily accessible to personnel or located as close as was feasible to the immediate area where sharps were used or could be reasonably anticipated to be found.  Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's) used disposable razors when caring for residents at the long term care center.  After use, the contaminated sharps were carried in an emesis basin from the interior of the resident's room, through the door and down the hall to the nurse's station, up to fifty feet away, where the contaminated sharp was removed from the emesis basin and disposed in a sharps container.  The employer did not ensure that sharps containers were located as close as feasible to where the sharps were used.  This condition exposed employees to a bloodborne pathogen hazard.    GJT Investors LLC, dba Aspen Ridge Alzheimers Special Care Center, at 622 28 1/4 Road, Grand Junction, CO, was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iii)(A)(2)(i), which was contained in Item 3 of Citation 1 issued on October 25, 2011 (OSHA Inspection number 106580).
