29 CFR 1915.506(e)(2): When testing a fixed extinguisher system did not involve a total discharge, the employer did not make sure that the system's extinguishing agent medium was physically isolated and that employees not directly involved in the testing were evacuated from the protected space. a) Jobsite: 2100 Kitty Hawk Avenue, Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, Dock 5, Ship 18 - The employer tested an Ansul Fire Monitor, Model MM-4 with an attached nozzle AFN-2-SS-M located on the ship. The employer did not ensure the systems extinguishing medium was physically isolated and employees were evacuated from the protected space. Employees working on the main deck were hit with a stream of water while the employer was testing a fire monitor located above the main deck of the ship. Noted on 11/21/12.
