29 CFR 1910.23(a)(10): Where doors or gates open directly on a stairway, a platform shall be provided, and the swing of the door shall not reduce the effective width to less than 20 inches. (a) On December 13th, 2012 employees of Pepsi Beverages Company were exposed to fall and tripping hazards when the platform of a stairway for an emergency exit in the middle bay was less than the required 20 inches.
