29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Production HL-1 and D Line - Workers were exposed to inadequately guarded torquers. The flexible plastic guards did not prevent access to the torquers which rotate to tighten bottle caps. An employee on the HL-1 Line held the bottle while the cap was tightened. An employee on the D Line placed the caps on the bottles in close proximity to the torquer. b) Machine Shop Bridgeport Milling Machine S/N 122412, Sharp Milling Machine S/N 70601106, Jet Drill Press S/N 38155 - Workers were exposed to rotating bits and flying metal chips while operating the milling machines and drill press due to the lack of machine guarding. Violation observed on or about 01/08/13.
