29 CFR 1910.141(a)(3)(i): All places of employment shall be kept clean to the extent that the nature of the work allows:    On or about January 14, 2013, the shop was not kept clean to the extent that the nature allowed. Employee(s) are exposed to fall and tripping hazards. From such items as but not limited to: scrap steel laying on the floor and machine parts.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle.    On or about January 14, 2013, the blade on the Marvel band saw  was not capable of adjusting  to the thickness of the stock being cut.  Employee(s) are exposed to a struck-by hazard while cutting metal.  The model of the band saw was Marvel series 8, Mark 1 with serial number 822917.

29 CFR 1910.219(e)(3)(i): Vertical and inclined belts shall be enclosed by a guard conforming to standards in paragraphs (m) and (o) of this section.    On or about January 14, 2013, the disc sander located outside the office area, the belt was not guarded properly.  Employee(s) are exposed to a caught-in hazard when sanding metal parts.

29 CFR 1910.219(d)(1): Guarding. Pulleys, any parts of which are seven (7) feet or less from the floor or working platform, shall be guarded in accordance with the standards specified in paragraphs (m) and (o) of this section. Pulleys serving as balance wheels (e.g., punch presses) on which the point of contact between belt and pulley is more than six feet six inches (6 ft. 6 in.) from the floor or platform may be guarded with a disk covering the spokes.    On or about January 14, 2013, the disc sander located outside the office area, the pulley was not guarded properly.  Employee(s) exposed to a caught-in hazard when sanding metal parts.
