29 CFR 1910.213(h)(1): The sides of the lower exposed portion of the blade were not guarded to the full diameter of the blade by a device that will automatically adjust itself to the thickness of the stock and remain in contact with stock being cut to give maximum protection possible for the operation being performed. a) Delta Rockwell Radial Saw (Extrusion Saw), Shop Area, 701 First Street, Suite 101, Williamsport, PA: An extrusion saw was operated without the use of guards to prevent employee access to where aluminum metal and wood are crosscut by the radial saw blade. Employees using the extrusion saw were exposed to a caught in hazard caused by the point of operation that is within six-inches, on or about January 30, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.

29 CFR 1910.213(h)(4): Installation was not in such a manner that the front end of the unit will be slightly higher than the rear, so as to cause the cutting head to return gently to the starting position when released by the operator. a) Delta Rockwell Radial Saw (Extrusion Saw), Shop Area, 701 First Street, Suite 101, Williamsport, PA: An extrusion saw was installed with the front end of the saw level with the rear end of the saw which prevented the cutting head from returning to the starting position when released by the operator. Employees using the extrusion saw were exposed to a caught in hazard caused by the point of operation that is within six-inches, on or about January 30, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.

29 CFR 1910.22(b)(1): Aisles and passageways were not kept clear and in good repairs, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard. a) Floor area south of the Powermatic Model 66 Table Saw, Shop Area, 701 First Street, Suite 101, Williamsport, PA: An approximate 4-foot by 6-foot by 1-inch deep cutout exists in the concrete floor. Employees were exposed to a trip hazard caused by the change in elevation from the concrete floor to the bottom of the cutout, as observed by the CSHO, on or about January 30, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.
