The employer shall ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace is labeled, tagged or marked with either: 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6)(ii): Product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals, and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, will provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical. a. At the work site, the employer had not labeled overhead pipes that carried gasses that included (but were not limited to) natural gas, nitrogen and compressed air. All pipes were painted an off-white color and the employer had identified leaks in the pipes by tying red "caution" tape to the pipes.

29 CFR 1910.157(e)(2): Portable extinguishers or hose used in lieu thereof under paragraph (d)(3) of this section shall be visually inspected monthly. a. At the work site, the employer had not ensured that all portable fire extinguishers throughout the forge press area had been checked monthly. The employer had checked portable fire extinguishers in other areas of the plant.
