29 CFR 1910.107(e)(1): The storage of flammable or combustible liquids in connection with spraying operations did not conform to the requirements of 1910.106, where applicable: (a) On or about March 12, 2013, in the main facility, methyl ethyl ketone used for cleaning the spray gun parts was stored on the floor in an used Carboline Zinc Filler metal container with a lid partially closed. The storage of this flammable liquid was not in compliance with 1910.106(e)(2)(iv)(d). An acceptable container to store this flammable liquid for cleaning gun parts would be a safety can, kept away from ignition sources such as the delivery truck.

29 CFR 1910.134(d)(3)(iii)(B)(2): The employer did not implement a change schedule for respirators not equipped with an End of Service Life Indicator that would ensure cartridges were changed before the end of their service life: (a) On or about March 13, 2013, in Bay B, for a a painter using a 3M full face respirator with organic vapor cartridges. The respiratory protection program currently in effect did not specify a change out schedule. The revised written respiratory protection program being developed referenced manufacturer recommendations but didn't specify those recommendaions. This manufacturer has developed a specific software program available on the web to allow the recommendations to be specific to each customer's use of the respirator.
