29 CFR 1926.405(b)(1): Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings. Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings shall be protected from abrasion, and openings through which conductors enter shall be effectively closed. Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall also be effectively closed. a. In the south/west corner of the main building, first floor, conductors entering the cabinet where wiring for the temporary receptacles and temporary lighting were spliced in were not protected from the sharp edge of the openings. The cabinet was located adjacent to the temporary receptacles where employees plugged in extension cords, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard. b. In the south/west corner of the main building, first floor, there were unused openings in the cabinet where wiring for the temporary receptacles and temporary lighting were spliced in. The unused openings varied from 1.25 to 1.5 inches in diameter which would expose employees to a contact hazard.
