29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: (a) Ready Foods, Inc. at 4000 Dahlia Street, Denver, CO 80216: On and before 3/18/13, employees were not provided suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes within the overflow chemical storage where chemicals are transferred, such as but not limited to, corrosives containing sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, and ethylene glycol monobutyl ether. This condition exposed employees to the risk of permanent damage to the eyes. (b) Ready Foods, Inc. at 4000 Dahlia Street, Denver, CO 80216: On and before 3/18/13, employees were not provided suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes within the boiler room where chemicals are used, such as but not limited to, corrosives containing sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfite. This condition exposed employees to the risk of permanent damage to the eyes. (c) Ready Foods, Inc. at 4000 Dahlia Street, Denver, CO 80216: On and before 3/18/13, employees were not provided suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes within the battery charging station where employees can be exposed to risk of permanent damage to the eyes and skin. Abatement Note: A feasible means of abatement includes but is not limited to: 1) a portable eye wash device, appropriate for the expected hazardous exposure, and containing not less than one gallon of potable water; or 2) a plumbed emergency eyewash unit capable of delivering not less than 1.5 liters (0.4 gallons) of clean water per minute, with flow valves that are simple to operate, go "on" in one second or less, and remain "on" during the eyewash procedure. For details on emergency eyewash and shower equipment, OSHA references the American National Standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment, ANSI Z358.1.
