29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. On or about April 25, 2013- at the above addressed jobsite, an employee performing sign bracket installation from the roof deck, more than (25) feet above the ground, was not protected from falls, thereby exposing the employee to fall hazards. GRATE SIGNS, INC. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1926.501(b)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 312600075, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON DECEMBER 31, 2009 WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 10632 CICERO AVENUE, OAK LAWN, IL 60453.
