29 CFR 1910.106(a)(29): Safety can shall mean an approved container, of not more than 5 gallons capacity, having a spring-closing lid and spout cover and so designed that it will safely relieve internal pressure when subjected to fire exposure. Location: Hanger area Safety cans did not meet criteria per standard for containers holding hazardeous rags. Instance 1) The lid on the safety can was broken. Instance 2) The employer was usinga yellow 30 gallon plastic trash can for storage of oily rags.

29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. Location: Employer was providing the wrong type of protective gloves for employees using ROYCO 756 MIL-PRF-5606H lubricant.
