29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six or more feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: The employer is failing to ensure that employees which were working/walking on surfaces at elevation (6 or greater) from the lower level are effectively protected from this hazard. An employee sustained serious injuries after falling from an unprotected side or edge while removing shoring in a stairwell without any form of fall protection. The worker was working at a fall height of 115" to a concrete floor below.
