29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s): For the Edmunds Metal Works establishment at 6111 15th St. E, Bradenton, FL 34203, as observed on or about 05/22/2013, a) Employees operated two Accupress hydraulic brake presses on a daily basis and a Niagara press as needed. No guarding device or system was in place on either of the three brake presses to prohibit employees from getting their hands in the point of operation. Employees were observed to work close to the point of operation while feeding material and were exposed to possible amputation hazards. b) Employees operated a horizontal metal band saw to cut metal stock at the facility. No guard was present on the metal band saw to protect employees against the unused portion of the blade. Employees were exposed to potential laceration or amputation hazards due to an 8 inch section of the blade that was unguarded.

Employees were exposed to a potential amputation hazard due to the exposed nip point. The rotation flywheel also represented a hazard to employees if contacted.
