29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1): The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.9(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent: On or about 6/13/2013, the employer failed to administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program: a) An employee grinding parts near the paint line was exposed to continuous noise at 123.6% of the permissible daily noise exposure (8 hour time weighted average sound level of 90 dBA) or an equivalent sound level of approximately 91.5 dBA during the 434 minute sampling period on 6/13/2013; exposure calculations include a zero increment for the 46 minutes not sampled. b) Another employee grinding parts near the paint line was exposed to continuous noise at 73.6% of the permissible daily noise exposure (8 hour time weighted average sound level of 90 dBA) or an equivalent sound level of approximately 87.7 dBA during the 417 minute sampling period on 6/13/2013; exposure calculations include a zero increment for the 63 minutes not sampled. c) An employee grinding parts near the Peerless saw was exposed to continuous noise at 66.9% of the permissible daily noise exposure (8 hour time weighted average sound level of 90 dBA) or an equivalent sound level of approximately 87.1 dBA during the 419 minute sampling period on 6/13/2013; exposure calculations include a zero increment for the 61 minutes not sampled. Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). Stertil ALM Corp. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 312723513, citation number one, item number one and was affirmed as a final order on 9/3/2009, with respect to a workplace located at 200 Benchmark Industrial Drive, Streator, IL 61364.
