OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were not required to preheat charge materials to prevent moisture from contacting the molten metal causing explosion hazards:      (a) Melt Shop - 242 Allvac Lane, Latrobe, PA: On or about July 24, 2013, the employer placed a large peice of scrap into a molten bath of an electric arc furnace. Entrained moisture in the scrap caused an explosion resulting in damage to the building, damage to the melting furnace, and hearing loss of an employee.
