29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:   (a) for the 3rd shift production line employees at 2090 Bartow Road in Lakeland (FL), as noted on or about 08/14/2013.  The employer's personal protective equipment (PPE) assessment required the use of rubber aprons during the use of Foamy C when scrubbing drip pans.  Employees however on the 3rd shift were not required to wear the rubber aprons.  The Foamy C contained sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite and the the pH of the solution was 12.1, very corrosive.  The lack of use of the PPE resulted in burns to one employee.
