29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use [ANSIZ358.1-2004]:     On or about 08/01/13, at Magens Point Resort, St. Thomas, VI. Emergency eye wash stations were not provided in the immediate areas when employees used and/or handled corrosive products as follows:    a. At the upper level pool area. Employees used and/or handled Pool Time corrosive (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) products such as 3" tablets/stabilized chlorinator and chlorinating granules plus/4-in-1 sanitizer and shock and during pool maintenance operations.    b. At the lower level pool area. Employees used and/or handled Pool Time corrosive (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) products such as 3" tablets/stabilized chlorinator and chlorinating granules plus/4-in-1 sanitizer and shock and during pool maintenance operations.    c. At the sewage treatment plant area. . Employees used and/or handled Pool Time corrosive (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) products such as 3"multifunctional chlorinating tablets during plant maintenance operations.     d. At the laundry area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive Terra Chem commercial laundry products such as destainer (sodium hypochlorite), builder (sodium hydroxide), and de-rusting sour (hydrofluosilicic acid) during laundry operations.     NOTE:  Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met:      a. On or about 08/01/13. At the laundry area, at Magens Point Resort, St. Thomas, VI. The employer did not develop a written hazard communication program to ensure having material safety data sheets available when employees used and/or handled corrosive Terra Chem commercial laundry products: destainer (sodium hypochlorite), builder (sodium hydroxide), and de-rusting sour (hydrofluosilicic acid) and other products such as detergent (surfactant blend) and softener (quaternary ammonium compounds) during laundry operations.      NOTE:  Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
