29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about September 4, 2013, and at times prior thereto, at the lathe machines areas a horizontal engine lathe was used without a chuck guard provided to prevent contacting the chuck while in operation. Employees were exposed to injury caused by contacting the chuck.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.: On or about September 4, 2013, and at times prior thereto, in the machine shop areas an employee was allowed to use a compressed air nozzle for cleaning purpose which was not the type that would reduce the pressure to below 30 p.s.i. The employee was exposed to skin and eye injury.
