29 CFR 1926.651(i)(1): Where the stability of adjoining buildings, walls, or other structures was endangered by excavation operations, support systems such as shoring, bracing or underpinning was not provided to ensure the stability of such structures for the protection of employees. (a) Wall "E" in LRT Envelope; 13863 E. Jewell Avenue Aurora, CO: On or about September 4, 2013 and at times prior, the employer failed to support the adjacent structure while digging an excavation for the under drain. The employer opened an excavation directly adjacent to the leveling pad which supported the wall panels resulting in the leveling pads breaking away and allowing three panels to fall away from the wall exposing employees in the area to crushing hazards.
