29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(iii): The employer did not provide special hand-tools for placing and removing material such as to permit easy handling of material without the operator placing a hand in the danger zone: a/ Kentucky Cabinet/Union NJ Site: Production Cutting Area. Special tools were not provided to prevent employee contact with rotating circular saw blades when employees are required to cut wood-stock as small as 5.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide; and when employees are required to hold stacked wood-stock in place while it is being cut to ensure an even cut for the entire stack being cut. Equipment including but not limited to: 1/ Whirlwind (Also Known as Tiger) Circular Table Saw - Blade 16 inches in Diameter, Foot Controlled, and used to cross-cut wood stock. 2/ Laguna Circular Table Saw - Double Blades 4 inches and 12 inches in Diameter and is used to create a score and/or a groove in wood stock. Observed on/or about 09/30/2013.

29 CFR 1910.213(d)(1): Circular hand-fed crosscut table saw(s) were not guarded by an automatically adjusting hood which completely enclosed that portion of the saw above the table and above the material being cut: a/ Kentucky Cabinet/Union NJ Site: Production Cutting Area. Guards on table saws were not adequate in that they did not cover the saw blade to prevent accidental contact with the rotating blade during operation. 1/ Whirlwind (Also Known as Tiger) Circular Table Saw - Blade 16 inches in Diameter, Foot Controlled, and used to cross-cut stacked wood stock 97 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The guard provided was fixed and not adjusted/adjustable to the stock being cut. 2/ Laguna Circular Table Saw - Double Blades 4 inches and 12 inches in Diameter and used to create a score and/or a groove in wood stock 97 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The guard provided was fixed, not adjusted/adjustable to the stock being cut and it was broken. Observed on/or about 09/30/2013.
