29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Quartz Department - The TIG-argon welder machine was not guarded to protect the operator in the machine area from ingoing nip points during its operation. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records. 29 CFR 1910.1025(h)(1): All surfaces were not maintained as free as practicable of accumulations of lead: (a) Paint Booth Area, Engineering Lab - All surfaces were not maintained as free as practicable of accumulations of lead. On November 1, 2013, lead contaminated surfaces included: ledge on the front of the spray booth (3253 micrograms); scale used to weight pigment containing lead and cadmium (188 micrograms); flammable storage cabinet handle (30.5 micrograms); and, the engineering lab work surface (93 micrograms). In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
