29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. On or about November 1, 2013, in the Assembler Area, an Assembler employee was exposed to a struck-by, puncture hazard from an unsecured shim flying out after being placed between the bucket and yoke and pressed downward using a hydraulic press cylinder to remove a stator core from a yoke.

29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(i): The employer shall train each employee with occupational exposure in accordance with the requirements of this section. Such training must be provided at no cost to the employee and during working hours. The employer shall institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program. On or about November 1, 2013, an employee in the Assembler Area was inadequately trained and protected against blood borne pathogens while he was cleaning up blood from an work place accident.
