29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by points of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, or flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about November 21, 2013, employees working with and around several printing machines were exposed to hazards in that: (1) The top rollers of the Ryobi Twin Tower printing machine (Model 3985/9985, Serial #8069) were unguarded exposing employees to in-running nip points, and (2) The front-facing rollers on the AB Dick Swing-Away T-Head printing machines (3 Model 9910XCS, 1 Model 9810XCS) were unguarded when operated with their T-Heads swung open (or removed) exposing employees to in-running nip points from the rollers and from rotating gears. Abatement certification is required for this Item. Use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
