On or about 11/21/13, at the receiving area, at Pueblo Supermarket-Sub Base, St. Thomas, VI. Employees worked and walked by propane (LPG) gas cylinders stored inside a wood cabinet that lacked identity and warning labeling (placards).     NOTE:  Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.132(a):  Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact:    a. On or about 11/21/13, at the receiving area, at Pueblo Supermarket-Sub Base, St. Thomas, VI. Protective clothing such as jackets were not provided to employees to protect them from cold temperatures (32 C degrees) when working inside meat department room.     NOTE:  Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
