29 CFR 1910.106(d)(5)(iii): "Office occupancies." Storage shall be prohibited except that which is required for maintenance and operation of building and operation of equipment. Such storage shall be kept in closed metal containers stored in a storage cabinet or in safety cans or in an inside storage room not having a door that opens into that portion of the building used by the public.    a). Jericho Home Improvements, 2100 Manchester trafficway, Kansas City MO: On 01/19/2013: The employer failed to provide flammable chemical storage for the following hazardous chemical such as but not limited to, denatured alcohol. Employees were exposed to a fire hazard from a flammable chemical denatured alcohol, while smoking cigarettes during the morning meeting.

29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1): In any workplace where respirators are necessary to protect the health of the employee or whenever respirators are required by the employer, the employer shall establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures. The program shall be updated as necessary to reflect those changes in workplace conditions that affect respirator use. The employer shall include in the program the following provisions of this section, as applicable:   a). At Jericho Home Improvements, 2100 Manchester Trafficway, Kansas City MO :  The employer failed to develop and implement a written respiratory protection program to protect employees exposed to dust with high levels of respirable crystalline silica produced from the fabrication of the granite counters, and granite table tops.       1) On or about 01/19/2013: Fabrication Area- An employee was exposed to dust with high levels of respirable crystalline silica while cutting, grinding, polishing and sanding granite stones from counter tables and tops. The employee was exposed to an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) of 6.04 mg/M3 of respirable crystalline silica, which is 7.85 times the OSHA permissible exposure level (PEL) of 0.769 mg/M3.

29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1): General requirements. Abrasive wheels shall be used only on machine provided with safety guards as defined in paragraph (c) (1) through (4) of this section.    a). On 1/19/14 at Jericho Home Improvements, 2100 Manchester Trafficway, Kansas City MO; Two employees were exposed to unguarded hand grinders, that had the guards removed and contained abrasive grinding wheels that were greater then 2" in diameter, composed of a steel wheel, coated with diamond abrasives. The employees were cutting and grinding with these hand grinders on granite stone without safety guards. The chance that injuries resulting from contact to the open blade of one of the grinders could result in cuts, lacerations and amputations.
