29 CFR 1926.304(f): Other requirements. All woodworking tools and machinery shall meet other applicable requirements of American National Standards Institute, 01.1-1961, Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery: a) Front Yard - On or about 001/09//2014, employees were exposed to amputation hazards from use a portable table saw that was missing the following requirements: - Hood with which to protect a carpenter from accidentally contacting the saw's rotating blade while ripping wood trim, which is a requirement of the American National Standards Institute, 01.-1961, Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery, Section 4.1.2(a). - Spreader with which to protect carpenters wood trim and other materials fed into the saw from binding and being ejected, which is a requirement of the American National Standards Institute, 01.-1961, Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery, Section 4.1.2(b). - A restart switch that would prevent the saw from unexpectedly restarting after a temporary interruption of power, which is a requirement of the American National Standards Institute, 01.-1961, Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery, Section 3.1.3(c). Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
