29 CFR 1910.132(d)(2): The employer shall verify that the required workplace hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification that identifies the workplace evaluated; the person certifying that the evaluation has been performed; the date(s) of the hazard assessment; and, which identifies the document as a certification of hazard assessment. (a). At Jasper Products, LLC. : The employer had failed to properly evaluate the safety and health hazards of employees working and handling sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and sodium hypoclorite (corrosives) hazardous chemicals, while cleaning food processing equipment. Employees were suffering second degree burns while working with corrosive chemicals. Abatement is required for this item.

At Jasper Products LLC: The employer had failed to train employees on what personal protective equipment (PPE) was required when working with corrosive hazardous chemicals such as: sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and sodium hypochlorite while cleaning food process equipment. Abatement is required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. [63 FR 33450, June 18, 1998] (a). At Jasper Product LLC,: The employer failed to provide a shower and eye wash facility in the immediate area of corrosive chemicals such as, sodium hydroxide, and sodium hypochorite. An employee had suffered second degree burns while priming flushing pumps which contained corrosive chemicals. Abatement is required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.305(e)(1): Cabinets, cutout boxes, fittings, boxes, and panel board enclosures. Cabinets, cutout boxes, fittings, boxes, and panel board enclosures in damp or wet locations shall be installed so as to prevent moisture or water from entering and accumulating within the enclosures and shall be mounted so there is at least 6.35-mm (0.25-in.) airspace between the enclosure and the wall or other supporting surface. However, nonmetallic enclosures may be installed without the airspace on a concrete, masonry, tile, or similar surface. The enclosures shall be weatherproof in wet locations. (a). On 1/29/2014 at Jasper Products LLC. : CIP AREA: The employer failed to maintain an electric panel board enclosure, by allowing an emergency shut off button cover to remain missing, in a wet area. Employees were exposed to electrical hazards by coming in contact with the an energized open source. Abatement is required for this item.
