29 CFR 1910.36(g)(2): Exit access(es) were not at least 28 inches (71.1 cm) wide at all points. (a) Fire Operations, room 219: On or about 23JAN14, furniture in an employee cubicle reduced the exit access to 27 ½ inches wide at the desk's edge, and boxes placed between the desk and the wall reduced that space by half to 14 inches. (b) Environmental Engineer room: On or about 23JAN14, furniture in an employee cubicle reduced the exit access to 24 inches wide. The USDA Forest Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.36(g)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 910625, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on July 29, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 602 S. Tippecanoe Av., San Bernardino, CA 92408.

(b) Investigations, room 212: On or about 23JAN14, a power strip was used to provide 120VAC electrical service to a microwave. (c) Investigations, room 212: On or about 23JAN14, two power strips were connected in series to provide electrical service. (d) Investigations, room 212: On or about 23JAN14, a power strip was used to provide 120VAC electrical service to a Lasko space heater not designed for use with other cord connected devices. (e) Forest Supervisor office, room 220: On or about 23JAN14, an extension cord was plugged into a power strip to provide electrical service. (f) Fire operations, room 219: On or about 23JAN14, an extension cord was plugged into a power strip to provide electrical service. (g) Fire operations, room 219: On or about 23JAN14, a microwave was plugged into a power strip. (h) Environmental engineering room: On or about 23JAN14, two sets of power strips were connected in series to provide electrical service. Four total power strips were in use in this manner. The USDA Forest Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 911911, citation number 1, item number 10, and was affirmed as a final order on August 6, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 41374 North Shore Drive, Fawnskin, CA 92333.
