OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from crushing or struck by hazards:      a) Mechanic Shop- The employer did not ensure that the two automotive lifts in the southwest corner of the Mechanic Shop were free from defects and in safe working order.      The two automotive lifts were not equipped with functional safety poles.  The safety pole of the center automotive lift was removed, while the safety pole of the outer automotive lift in the southwest corner of the Mechanic Shop was rusting and the locking function was not operational.       In accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.

The light switch was used to replace the toggle switch on the AMMCO rotor brake lathe.
