OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing for likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards:  (a)  In the RTA area: On February 13, 2014 and at times prior to; the employer the employer exposed employees to struck by hazards in that employees were allowed to walk and work around steel storage racks that had column base plates that were not anchored to the floor.

29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1): Flights of stairs having four or more risers were not equipped with a standard railing as specified in paragraphs (d)(1)(i) through (v) of this section:    (a) In the Laminate area:  On February 13, 2014 and at times prior to; the employer failed to provide a standard railing for steps that were four or more risers high that were approximately 44 inches high, exposing employees to falls.      Standard Furniture Manufacturing Company, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315454173, citation number 1, item number 2b and was affirmed as a final order on June 28, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 801 Hwy 31 S., Bay Minette, AL.

29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii): Unused openings in boxes, cabinets, or fittings were not effectively closed:     (a)  The PF-1 electrical panel in the Dove Tail Room:  On February 13, 2014 and at times prior to the employer failed to ensure that unused openings in the electrical panel boxes were effectively closed, exposing employees that were allowed to work around the electrical panel to fire hazards such as, but not limited to burns, smoke and fume inhalation or death.     (b)  The PD-6 electrical panel in the Dove Tail Room:  On February 13, 2014 and at times prior to; the employer failed to ensure that unused openings in the electrical panel boxes were effectively closed, exposing employees that were allowed to work around the electrical panel to fire hazards such as, but not limited to burns, smoke and fume inhalation or death.    Standard Furniture MNanufacturing Company, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315454173, citation number 1, item number 7b and was affirmed as a final order on June 28, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 801 Hwy 31 S., Bay Minette, AL.
