29 CFR 1926.1406(a)(1): While using disassembly procedures contrary to the manufacturer, the employer did not ensure alternative procedures were developed and implemented to prevent dangerous movement of the crane. (a) Rocky Mountain Structures, Inc., 900 28th Street, Boulder, CO: On or about February 25, 2014, the employer did not ensure safe alternative methods were developed and implemented prior to disassembling the Potain Igo 50 tower crane. While the mast and jib remained in the upright position, the ballast and bolted gray counterweights (2) were removed allowing the crane to fall into the building under construction. Condition exposed employees to "struck" by hazard.
