29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, or flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about March 19th, 2014, employees in the Fabrication Department were exposed to the hazard of becoming entangled with rotating parts while working with and around two LeBlond metal lathes which did not have guards over their rotating chuck assemblies. Abatement certification is required for this Item. Use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 psi: (a) On or about March 19th, 2014, employees in the Fabrication Department were using two compressed air nozzles for cleaning that were not vented to ensure that the nozzles could not achieve dead-ended air pressures of greater than 30 psi, exposing employees to possible eye or skin injuries from flying objects. Abatement certification is required for this Item. Use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
