General-duty citation text
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by wood building components in the event of structural collapse. On or about March 25, 2014 framers stacking 62 foot long metal plate connected wood trusses were exposed to the hazards of being struck by building and building materials when the building collapsed as result of inadequate shoring and lateral support of the structure. The trusses were placed flat on the roof supported in the middle by 2"X 10" boards supported by upright 2"X 4" boards placed on the ground. The middle of the roof fell down and the outside walls fell out causing catastrophic failure of the wood frame building at the construction site.
