29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) In Shop 1, the Grob FN 6 #10209 vertical band saw had inadequate guarding, in that the employee's fingers were within 1/2" from the saw blade. This exposed employees to amputation type of injuries. (b) In Shop 1, the Grob FN6 #10273 vertical band saw did not have the adjustable guard down exposing employees to amputation type of injuries. (c) In Shop 1, the Powermatic #10251 table saw had an inadequate guard in that the guard did not cover the blade width. This exposed employees to amputation type of injuries. (d) In Shop 3, the Powermatic #10232 had inadequate guarding exposing employees to amputation type of injuries. (e) In Shop 1, the Powermatic #10495 table saw had an adjustable guard which was smaller than the wheel being used to cut the carbon pieces. This exposed employees to amputation type of injuries. (f) In Shop 1, the Powermatic #10305 table saw had an adjustable guard which was smaller than the wheel being used to cut the carbon pieces. This exposed employees to amputation type of injuries.

This exposed employees to misuse of a chemical. (b) In R & D, a spray bottle was filled with an unidentified liquid. This exposed employees to misuse of a chemical.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer did not maintain copies of the required material safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical in the workplace: (a) The employer maintain copies of the MSDS for chemicals such as but not limited to: brass, True Value Muriatic Acid, Allied High Tech Products, #185-10005 Quickset Acrylic powder, or Spic Span Procter & Gamble disinfecting all purpose spray and glass cleaner. (b) The employer also did not have a backup access for MSDS which were maintained electronically via websites.
