29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(ii): If there is a defect or evidence of damage that might expose an employee to injury, the defective or damaged item shall be removed from service, and no employee may use it until repairs and tests necessary to render the equipment safe have been made. (a) Hose and tool cache: The cord of a wet/dry vacuum was damaged exposing the conductors of the cord. (b) Barracks: The outer case of a clothes dryer used by the employees was electrically live exposing employees to injury. The USDA Forest Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910. 334(a)(2)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 911912, citation number 1, item number 11, and was affirmed as a final order on August 6, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 28500 Highway 243, Keenwild Station, Mountain Center, CA 92561.
